Welcome to
St Edmund’s Church, Southwold
St Edmund’s is a family friendly church where the family is everyone in the neighbourhood whether they are in a family home or on their own and alone.
St. Edmund’s, Southwold is a Grade 1 listed, 15th century church situated in the middle of the town. The exterior is a beautiful example of East Anglian flint work. Inside, look out for the carved and decorated angels in the roof, the spectacular font cover, and the great medieval rood screen with its fine paintings.
The figure of Southwold Jack is well known to anyone who loves Adnams beers. The armour-clad figure, dating from the Wars of the Roses, is still called upon today to announce the start of services by striking his bell with his battle axe.
St Edmund's is open from 10.00am to 6.00pm every day. We have weekly services as well as junior groups and other events throughout the year. More details of these can be found in the section below.
