Welcome to
St Peter and Paul Church, Wangford
St. Peter and St. Paul, Wangford is the much altered surviving fragment of the Cluniac monastery that once stood here.
Medieval parts of the church remain, but the monastic ruins were mostly swept away during a thorough renovation in the 19th century. The Earl of Stradbroke, from the nearby Henham estate, sponsored the restoration at that time, and some of his family’s memorials can be seen on the walls.
The tower is a fine local landmark, that looks at its best when floodlit at night.
